Playgroups
This area of the site focuses on the information needs of playgroups.
Playgroups are groups of parents that meet regularly with their children to facilitate play. They include puna kōhungahunga, Pacific Islands early childhood education groups, and community language playgroups.
This section includes resources for starting up and running a playgroup and providing a quality learning programme.
The new regulatory system including the criteria has been now been approved by the Minister of Education and notices have been published in the New Zealand Gazette.
Under the 2008 regulatory system, playgroups that want to receive government funding and support must become certificated.
A copy of the criteria can be downloaded from the right hand column. A printed copy relating to your service type will be posted as soon as the print copies become available.
This section will also be updated to reflect the new criteria in the context of the standards and guidance.
