The Participation Programme Creates 455 ECE Child Spaces
Targeted Assistance for Participation (TAP) is targeted to areas identified as having the greatest need and where we stand to make the biggest impact in ECE participation.
Targeted Assistance for Participation establishes new, suitable child places that meet the ECE needs of each identified community. Funding is made available to both private and community groups provided they can meet the needs of target communities.
This is the first year of operation for the Targeted Assistance for Participation funding which replaces the Discretionary Grants Scheme and Establishment Funding. Successful applicants recently announced in the 2010/2011 funding round are:
Te Manurewa Pasifika Early Childhood Education Trust will build a Cook Island immersion ECE service, and a Tongan bilingual centre in Rowendale, Manurewa.
Taonga Education Centre Charitable Trust will establish a new Māori bilingual centre based at Randwick Park, Manurewa.
