Grants
The Ministry offers a number of financial assistance options for students working towards their first Early Childhood teaching qualification that leads to registration as a teacher. Below is a brief description of each:
TeachNZ Māori Medium Bilingual Education Study Award
Opportunities are available to teachers and principals to take leave to improve their proficiency in te reo Māori me āna tikanga Māori and their skills as a bilingual or immersion teacher. Recipients complete a Postgraduate-level qualification in Māori Medium teaching. The award funds recipients’ normal salary and relief costs for the duration of study leave.

TeachNZ ECE Graduate Scholarships.
TeachNZ have two types of ECE scholarships available for 2013: ECE Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarships as well as ECE and Pasifika language Scholarships.
The Scholarships are merit based and pay core study fees in addition to an allowance of $10,000.

ECE Service Teacher Education Grants
The ECE Service Teacher Education Grants (ECESTEG) are paid to teacher-led centre-based ECE services to contribute to the costs faced by the service when supporting staff members gain a first ECE teaching qualification approved by the New Zealand Teachers Council. The ECESTEG is worth $3375 (GST inclusive) for each successful application every year.
ECE Support Grant for Provisionally Registered Teachers (ECE PRT Support Grant)
The ECE PRT support grant helps teacher-led ECE services to support their provisionally registered teachers to become fully registered.
