Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Protocol 2010
The Ministry of Education and Child Youth and Family have jointly undertaken a review to update their protocol on reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect for early childhood education services. The protocol was first implemented in 1996 as part of the process to develop the booklet Breaking the Cycle. As part of the review consultation was undertaken with the Early Childhood Advisory Committee, and New Zealand Police.
The protocol and guidelines will assist early childhood education services in dealing with child abuse and neglect. Guidelines are also included for the management of child abuse allegations against staff.
