It is the professional and regulatory body for teachers in English and Māori medium settings for early childhood, schools and other related education institutions. The Council aims to support the professional status of teachers and high quality teaching and learning through its mandated functions.

New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)
The overall role of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority is to be the independent and impartial expert organisation, which can be relied upon to administer robust National Qualifications Framework assessment systems and provide reliable quality assurance systems that deliver on our statutory accountabilities. New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER)
The New Zealand Council for Educational Research is New Zealand’s only national, independent educational research organisation. They conduct research and evaluation work with a range of public and private sector clients, and produce research-based tests, journals, books, and classroom resources.

Education Review Office (ERO)
The Education Review Office is a government department whose purpose is to evaluate and report publicly on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO carries out education reviews of education institutions and services, and national evaluations of education issues. ERO’s findings inform decisions and choices made by parents, teachers, managers, trustees and others, at the individual school and early childhood level and at the national level by Government policy makers.

Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association
It is a membership organisation that represents and supports early childhood education services throughout New Zealand, as well as early childhood teacher education.

It is the parent body of 29 Kindergarten Associations throughout New Zealand representing more than 400 hundred kindergartens.

The New Zealand Playcentre Federation
Playcentres are early childhood education services, run as parent co-operatives, which commits to the following principles in order to ensure the quality of early childhood education in each session: learning through play, birth to school age, mixed ages sessions, family involvement, other policies and philosophies as decided by the annual national conference.
